Re-accreditation is the prerequisite for continuing with a degree course after the accreditation period has elapsed. In contrast with the initial accreditation, the focus of the re-accreditation procedure lies in the experience already gained and changes to the study program after a certain period. The ZQ guidelines should be used when making an application for continuation (see download area).
The assessment of the degree course's quality follows the principle of looking at all levels and hence takes the aims, structures, processes and results of the courses into consideration. It is based on the one hand upon a comparison between targets set and targets achieved for the degree course, and on the other hand upon the position of the program within the overall concept of the subject area or department.
The results of JGU's continuous quality monitoring, made available to the subject areas by the ZQ, form the basis for the assessment (results from course surveys, course entry surveys and alumni surveys, evaluation discussions etc.).
For particular questions the ZQ will involve external experts in the procedure (i.e. professorial advisers; consultants from the relevant professional area and student representatives).
The internal re-accreditation is concluded with a report from the ZQ. If all possible conditions and recommendations are met, the ZQ awards an internal re-accreditation certificate and informs the Accreditation Council that the procedure has been successfully completed.
Under "Process for the continuation/re-accreditation of degree courses" you will find the relevant steps and documentation about the re-accreditation of a study course at JGU.
