Quality assurance and development in higher education institutes are generally subsumed under the term "evaluation". The term can include types of program/project and institutional evaluations, as well as survey-related offerings such as event surveys, alumni surveys or course entry surveys.
The main areas of operation of the ZQ include conducting surveys and evaluating subject areas and departments at both Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and at members of the "Hochschulevaluierungsverbund" [in German] (south west evaluation association of higher education institutes).
