Teaching and Learning Research Lab – Lehr-Lern-Forschungslabor (LLF)

The Teaching and Learning Research Lab "Lehr-Lern-Forschungslabor" (LLF) is funded as part of the project "Orte vertieften Lernens: Das Mainzer Modell kooperativer Lehrerbildung" by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and focuses on the use of digital media in foreign language teaching.

Together with students, specialist seminars and trainee teachers as well as partner schools, concepts for the media-supported development of foreign language teaching in schools are being designed, tested and evaluated. At the same time, a multi-part certification course for the use of iPads in the EFL classroom is being developed, implemented and evaluated in cooperation with the Center of Scientific Further Education (Zentrum für Wissenschaftliche Weiterbildung). The innovative seminar concept Language Learning Futures, which focuses on the planning, design and development of digital learning environments for English language teaching, deals with this complex task. In addition to subject-specific and pedagogical competencies, future English teachers also need digital competencies, but especially technological-pedagogical content knowledge in the subject discipline.
