Research and Teaching in English Literature and Culture

Research and Teaching in English Literature and Culture are concerned with literatures and cultures of the entire English-speaking world (apart from the U.S.A.) from their beginnings to the present. Although particular attention is paid to the literatures and cultures of the British Isles (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales), the effects of the British Empire on the culture and literature of the United Kingdom also  feature regularly in our teaching and research.

Literary and Cultural Studies are interrelated, and approaching this complex requires historical, social and economic knowledge as well as an awareness of recent  theories of literature and culture.

English Literature and Culture is part of the following degree programmes: B.Ed./M.Ed. Englisch, B.A./M.A. British Studies (respectively English Literature and Culture), B.A. Europäische Literatur, B.Sc./M.Sc. Wirtschaftspädagogik. All teaching is in English.
