Phase-out of Magister Programs

In accordance with the regulations abolishing the Magister Examination Regulations for faculties 02, 05, 07, 09, and 10 at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from March 27, 2009 (Gov't gazette No. 17 from May 18, 2009, p. 891) (99 KB - German version) the following applies:

Art. 2
Transitional Provisions

(1) Students who commenced a Magister degree course at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz before winter semester 2008/09 can opt to be subject to the examination regulations* specified in Art. 1 up to and including summer semester 2015. The examination board shall decide on a case by case basis whether this period can be extended in special cases of hardship, especially if illness or pregnancy intervenes. There can be no extension beyond summer semester 2017 at the latest. The compulsory/optional curriculum specified in Art. 1 of the stated regulations shall be made available to the end of summer semester 2012 in accordance with the appended table. In justified individual cases, candidates may be admitted to part examinations and examinations, with the approval of the relevant examination body for the department, if the requirements specified in Art. 1 of the stated examination regulations for admission to the examination can no longer be met for administrative reasons; evidence must be presented that the necessary course credits have been acquired.
