Doctoral Programs at the Faculty of Biology

The Faculty of Biology offers suitable candidates the opportunity to participate in two different structured doctoral programs.

The programs provide accepted candidates with numerous extra offers in support of their dissertation project, among them additional supervisors, extracurricular and specialist trainings, and the opportunity of stays abroad and conference participations.

The “International Doctoral Program” (“Internationales Promotionsprogramm“, IPP) of the Faculty is operated together with the Institute of Molecular Biology, the University Medical Center, and the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. The IPP focuses on research in the fields of gene regulation, epigenetics, and genomic stability.

The Max Planck Graduate Center with the Johannes Gutenberg University offers research opportunities for Biologists interested in Water and Polymer Sciences in cellular contexts.
The Mainz Research School of Translational Medicine (TransMed) provides a structured program for biologists within the research fields of translational biomedicine and medicine.
