Green School

The out-of-school learning venue of the Faculty of Biology at the Johannes Gutenberg University, “a school-focused institution for environmental education in Rhineland-Palatinate” (SchUR), can be used for any class level and school form.
The Green School addresses all age levels. Its program is both content-wise and didactically compatible with school teaching and makes use of the enormous plant variety of the Botanic Garden. Thereby, it aims at arousing children’s and teenagers’ enthusiasm for nature and science at a young age. It also strives toward further intensifying the network between the university and local schools.
A central concern of the Green School is to raise awareness for the significance, preservation, and sustainable use of biological diversity.
