"Silence is Permission, Silence is Consent, Silence is Acceptance"
MARCH FOR SCIENCE FRANKFURT
April 22, 2017 | 1 pm | Bockenheimer Warte | Frankfurt
On Earth´s Day April 22 people around the world will gather for a March for Science. The event is an unprecedented global gathering of scientists and science enthusiasts joining together to celebrate science as pillar of human freedom and prosperity.
The Marches for Science around the world want to demonstrate the passion and the need more than ever for facts against lies, evidence against opinion, scientific consensus against political bias.
The Faculty of Physics Mathematics and Computer Science at the Johannes Gutenberg University supports the event and it invites all its members, supporters and friends to spread the news and actively participate in the March.
In times when climate change is denied, conspiracy theories are referred to as “alternative facts”, “fake news" take the place of objective proofs and 140 characters are enough to discredit the state of knowledge an active demonstration of the paramount importance of critical reasoning is imperative for all those who value progress as guarantor of our core democratic principles.
In Germany the March for Science is promoted by a number of institutions (including the Humboldt-Stiftung, Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst and Deutscher Hochschulverband) as well as many public figures.
In the Rhein-Main area the March for Science will take place in Frankfurt at 1 pm at the Bockenheimer Warte. More information is available at the Facebook Page of the March for Science Frankfurt.
