The “International Colloquium for Young Researchers” took place November 14 through 16, 2013, at the site of the coordination office. At this conference, young researchers of the KoKoHs initiative had the chance to present their planned doctoral and post-doctoral projects to well renowned experts of different fields (Statistics, Psychology and Empirical Education Research) as well as to other young researchers, discuss them all together and receive feedback. 27 of the KoKoHs project’s young researches used this significant opportunity extensively. Together, they discussed the current state of measurement of competencies in higher education and were in this way able to gain important impulses for their own research projects, which aim at strengthening the projects’ compatibility and transparency on an international level.
Furthermore, on Friday a meeting in regards to “international compatibility” was held and attended by all national and international experts, young researchers and project-participants. This so called “round table” was mainly led by experts who contributed to the meeting with podium discussions focusing on specific topics and discussions on two essential, general topics of the projects (theoretical and methodical challenges and solutions to measuring competencies).
Aside from the conference’s official program, the two social evenings on Thursday and Friday as well as the “Breakfast with experts” offered to young researchers provided an opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level, thus ensuring a closer exchange between all the event’s participants.
We want to thank all international and national experts as well as all participants for their inspiring contributions which made this colloquium an outstanding event!
