The subproject “conveying competencies” (Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universität Münster) deals with the foundation of teaching competencies that are based on theory. The subsidiary skills “analyzing and reflecting the instruction of experiments” and “planning and reflecting the instruction of experiments” are supposed to be modeled via Item-Response-Theorie (IRT). The second subproject “assessing competencies” (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen) aims at the theoretical foundation of the competence “assessing and reflecting students’ achievements when experimenting”. This competence will be empirically verified via a modeling by means of IRT-models. Assessing competencies are crucial in order to arrange and evaluate experimental biology education cumulatively. The third subproject focusses on „multidimensional modeling“ (Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg). It supports both modelling conveying and assessing competencies in regard to test theory. The major goal is the multidimensional modeling based on IRT-models. This will take place in close collaboration with Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universität Münster and Georg-August-Universität Göttingen.
