In the future, the Focus Program Translational Neurosciences (FTN) will have laboratory and animal-experiment facilities covering an area of 3,500 m² on the campus of Johannes Gutenberg University, as well as other areas of approx. 800 m² for the Human Neuroimaging Center and the premises of the University Medicine department.
The FTN with its animal testing facilities will be housed on the university campus directly within the Biomedical Institute of University Medicine, the Scientific Institute of the University, the newly created Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) as well as the Max Planck Institutes for Polymer Research and for Chemistry. A considerable part of these facilities (approx 1,500 m²) will be devoted to training the scientists of tomorrow.
