BSc program

The BSc program at our institute imparts the essential basics of mathematics and physics. Based thereon the students receive a fundamental education in theoretical and experimental meteorology, expanded by additional courses in a neighboring subject.

The course program is subdivided into three categories:

  • Basic education in mathematics and physics: Obligatory are three modules in each mathematics for physicists and experimental physics as well as two modules in theoretical physics, including lectures on computational methods in physics.
  • Specific basic and advanced knowledge in experimental and theoretical meteorology. Furthermore, skills in appliction of the aquired knowledge are trained in various practicals. The obligatory modules include thermodynamic methods, fluid mechanics, data analysis, statistice, weather forecast and application oriented programming and numerics.
  • Additional skills are imparted through susidiary subjects to be chosen from the faculty's curriculum or from other faculties of the Johannes Gutenberg-University.

Modules take one or two terms, examinations are carried out course-related. Usually, contents of the modules are consecutive. Thus, examinations may cover contents which are a prerequisite for forthcoming modules.
