Goals

The main goals of the study program are

  • transfer of general and problem-specific numerical principles and algorithms,
  • confrontation with specific problems arising in the natural sciences, and realization of numerical simulations,
  • learning efficient algorithms and visualization methods as well as demonstrating the potential of computational science,
  • import/export of mathematical expertise on problems arising in natural sciences (mathematical modelling).

Prerequisities of this Master study is a solid basic education in applied mathematics, such as an undergraduate program in Mathematics or a properly chosen propaedeutic module.

The participation in the obligatory Oberseminar gives the students a chance to get to know possible mathematical applications in order to study open questions arising in natural sciences.
Successful graduates will be able to transfer up to date developments of applied mathematics to various fields.
