My research project focuses on the intersection between phonology and phonetics in phoneme perception. Using mainly EEG but also behavioral methods, I investigate phonological processing in vowel perception in general and behavioural and neuronal asymmetries in particular. Hence, I am considering not only phonological theories like underspecification and feature geometry but also phonetic-perceptual salience of vowel features. Therefore, the main focus lies on the German language but vowel processing in other languages will be taken into account.
