In cooperation with the Faculty of Canon Law of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (B), all students of Johannes Gutenberg-University (JGU) who already have graduated in catholic or legal subjects are able to enrol in internationally recognised European Master programmes (MA) in Society, Law and Religion and Canon Law (MCL, JCL) as part of a distant learner programme.
That is: Living and working at home and studying in Mainz and Leuven besides further qualification and everyday work. Twice a year there are two weeks concentrated lesson weeks in Leuven. Those are mandatory. The study language is English; a TOEFL-Test is mandatory.
The special character of the programme is that all credits earned in Mainz are fully accredited in Leuven due to the existing cooperation agreement. The studies in Leuven are not bound by any religious denomination. Study fees are only charged for participated lectures and seminars in Leuven.
The cooperation institution of JGU is the Department/Faculty of Canon Law - Constitutional Church Law - Church Law History at University Mainz of FB 01, Catholic-Theological Faculty.
