Database Canon Law

The database "Datenbank Kanonisches Recht" is now integrated into the Index Theologicus.

For a targeted search in the area of canonical literature, there is a special area of canon law.

This database "Datenbank Kanonisches Recht" is dedicated to students, teachers and actively employed theologians and especially to canonists. The data base enables a research of references of specialized publications of literature, norms and jurisdiction.

At the moment, the data base contains more than 40.000 references of monographies, articles of journals, to essays in anthologies and to legal sources especially from Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Poland and further English-speaking countries and is constantly extended. Included are amongst others the official journals of all German-speaking dioceses as well as ecclesiastical and state jurisdiction. By now, the data base contains a complete collection of basic principles of decisions concerning church work (KirchE) since 1990.

The data collection started in 1985. To record all literature concerned with church law, the canonical departments of several universities work together: Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg, University Regensburg, Ruhr-University Bochum, University Erfurt, Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and the church-historical department of the Radboung University Nijmegen. As non-university institutions the diocesan offices Hamburg, Limburg and Osnabrück also participate. The cooperation as well as the user support is implemented at the institute for canonical law in Münster.
