Barlo Hillen works as a research associate and lecturer in the Department of Sports Medicine, Disease Prevention, and Rehabilitation. His research is dedicated to exploring the application of infrared thermography in sports science, thermoregulation and the optimisation of digital health promotion and exercise therapy.

The research focus is on the implementation and exploration of the specially defined "Exercise Radiomics" approach. Exercise radiomics describes the use of infrared thermography during cardiopulmonary performance diagnostics in combination with other performance-physiological measurement methods and the automated evaluation of extensive, optical data.
