For the journey from the main station to the university, a so-called "Kurzstrecken /short haul" ticket is sufficient; it is cheaper than the normal fare and can be obtained from the bus driver or from a ticket machine. For further information, please contact the Mainzer transport company online.
Car arrival
If you are coming from the west (i.e. from Bonn/Cologne), follow the A60 motorway via the "Autobahn-Dreieck Mainz" in the direction of Darmstadt, leave the motorway at the "Mainz-Finthen" exit, follow the "Saarstraße/Innenstadt" sign straight ahead through the "Europaplatz" roundabout. Ignore the first exit "Universität" and leave Saarstraße at the second exit. Turn right into Albert-Schweitzer-Straße. After approx. 1km you will find the Institute for Sports Science on the right hand side. If you are coming from the east (i.e. from Würzburg/Darmstadt), follow the A60 motorway via the "Autobahn-Dreieck Rüsselsheim" or from the A63 via the "Autobahnkreuz Mainz" onto the A60 to Bingen, leave the motorway at the "Mainz-Finthen" exit, follow the "Saarstraße/Innenstadt" sign straight ahead through the "Europaplatz" roundabout. Ignore the first exit "Universität" and leave Saarstraße at the second exit. Turn right into Albert-Schweitzer-Straße. After approx. 1km you will find the Institute for Sports Science on the right hand side. If you are coming from the north (i.e. from Kassel), follow the A66 motorway and at the "Schiersteiner Kreuz" change to the A643 towards Mainz, follow the motorway to the "Autobahn-Dreieck Mainz", where you change to the A60 towards Darmstadt. Leave the motorway at the exit "Mainz-Finthen", follow the sign "Saarstraße/Innenstadt" straight ahead through the roundabout "Europaplatz". Ignore the first exit "Universität" and leave Saarstraße at the second exit. Turn right into Albert-Schweitzer-Straße. After approx. 1km you will find the Institute for Sports Science on the right hand side. Parking is available in the car park on Dalheimer Weg. In exceptional cases, you can obtain an entry permit from Mr. Ralf Wolf (App. 23590 or rawolf@uni-mainz.de), a member of the Institute's technical staff.
