George M. Bob-Milliar is senior lecturer at the Department of History and Political Studies, Kwame Nkru-mah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. His work focuses on democratisation in Africa, electoral politics in Ghana, informal economies, African Diaspora, and chieftaincy. Currently, he is a visiting research fellow at the Centre of African Studies, Cambridge University. He was invited to the department by Carola Lentz in the context of her research project on national days in West Africa and in order to help preparing MA and BA students’ supervised fieldwork in Ghana’s Upper West Region.

Khadidja Bourib is assistant professor in Political Sciences and International Relations at the Department of Political Sciences, Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, of the Jijel University (Algeria). Presently, she is doing research in International Relations in order to complete her doctorate thesis on "Crisis of state in Afri-ca: the impact of the ethnic-identity factor on the process of building an effective national state". She bene-fited from a short-term formation scholarship by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Algeria in order to gather material for her thesis at the departmental library.
