Prof. Dr. Paul Pettitt (Durham University)

Since 2013, Prof. Dr. Paul Pettitt has been conducting research in the Department of Archaeology at Durham University. Specializing in the European Middle and Upper Paleolithic, he works extensively on the origins and nature of Paleolithic art, burials, and behavior of Neanderthals and Pleistocene members of our own species.

At the Research Training Group 1876 in Mainz he discussed cognitive archaeology in detail with the colleagues. He also offered a weekly seminar. For more information click here.

winter semester 2018/19

Prof. Dr. Douglas Cairns (University of Edinburgh)

While in Mainz, Douglas Cairns was working on current projects on honour in Classical Greece and the history of emotions, especially a paper on pride and another on hope, as well as organizing an informal discussion on cognitive metaphor theory on 15 January and a workshop on methods of emotion research on 25–26 February.
