How to resolve the structure of hard- and soft condensed matter?From femtoseconds to slow phase transitions in the timescale of seconds: How to measure dynamics in the different time regimes?
In the course, we will discuss modern experimental methods to investigate structure and dynamics of hard and soft condensed matter. In Europe, currently several large-scale facilities (X-ray and neutron scattering) are under construction or built recently. We will discuss the arising possibilities of those new-generation sources.
Further, state-of-the-art methods to investigate structure and dynamics will be discussed, which include AFM, Electron microscopy, light scattering, NMR, sum frequency generation and other spectroscopic methods, combined with lab visits and hands-on examples.
