The lecture targets to give a basic understanding of the dynamics of supercooled liquids in the vicinity of the glass transition.

The lecture targets students from the 3rd year on.

statistical physics and distribution functions -- liquids as a system in thermodynamic equilibrium -- thermodynamic variables -- structure of liquids -- systematic low density expansion -- dynamic of liquids --- systematic short time expansions -- functional derivatives -- memory effects and the Mori-Zwanzig projection scheme -- experimental methods (e.g. neutron scattering, light scattering) -- dynamic of supercooled liquids -- mode coupling theory and scaling laws in the vicinity of the glass transition -- phenomonology of the glass transition -- generalized hydrodynamic

is probably the nature of the glass transition. This could be the next
breakthrough in the coming decade. The solution of the problem of spin
glass in the late 1970s has broad implications in unexpected fields like
neural networks, computer algorithms, evolution and computational
complexity. The solution of the more important and puzzling glass
problem may also have a substantial intellectual spin-off. Whether it will
