Contents
Within the scope of this lecture, the physics of strongly interacting particles, hadrons, will be discussed both from a historical perspective as well as using modern experiments. The following topics shall be discussed in detail:- the quark model
- mesons and baryons
- wave functions, mixing angles
- isospin, hypercharge
- hadron masses
- conservation laws: angular momentum, parity, ...
- Dalitz plots, determination of a particles spin and parity
- electron-positron annihilation
- charmonium: e.m. transitions, Zweig-rule
- meson production off the nucleon
- meson production at the LHC
- exotic hadrons: a new particle zoo
- multiquark hadrons
- hybrid mesons
- the search for glueballs
