Research Groups

Dr. Viviane Després

Field of Research:

  • The main research topic of the working group is Bioaerosols. We are especially interested in the molecular identification of airborne bacteria, archaea, fungi, and plant particles. For the identification we mainly use NGS and Sanger Sequencing Technology as well as quantitative PCR to determine the abundance of single species. In addition, we identify parameters, which influence and determine the composition of bioaerosols in distinct air masses, focusing here especially on meteorological parameter and land cover data.

AG Biodiversity and Evolution of Pflants

Prof. Dr. Gudrun Kadereit

Fields of Research:

  • Systematics, phylogeny, biogeography and evolution of Chenopodiaceae, Gisekiaceae, Zygophyllaceae and Sesuvioideae (Aizoaceae) with focus on the evolution of halophytes, drougth tolerance and C4 photosynthesis.
  • Evolution of kranz anatomy in succulent C4 lineages.
  • Biogeography of succulent C4 lineages.
  • Systematics, phylogeny and biogeography of Melastomataceae, with focus on Dissochaeteae.
