*** Date of the Intercultural Festival 2010: July 1st 2010***
Close to 4,600 of Mainz University’s 34,600 students are from international students, representing more than 130 countries from all over the world. As a “Forum for Encounters,” the third annual ZIS Intercultural Festival took place on campus on 25 June. A mix of event, party, and information fair, everything was international: presentations on countries from every continent, music, food, drinks, and performances. One of the highlights was the interviews from the red sofa, carried out by hosts from SWR Radio.
Bestselling Canadian writer Drew Hayden Taylor from Toronto reported on his intercultural experiences and encounters and read from his most recent novels, including The Night Wanderer, an Aboriginal vampire story, as well as excerpts from his comedy The Berlin Blues. Lee Maracle – Canada’s grande dame of Aboriginal women writers will read from her works Daughters are Forever, Will's Garden and poetry from her collection Bent box (see Photos Online).
