Konferenz der ZIS-Forschungsgruppe Erfindung der Norm

Die 2004 im Zentrum für Interkulturelle Studien gegründete Forschungsgruppe »Erfindung der Norm« untersucht unter der Federführung von Prof. Dr. Alfred Hornung Veränderungen des Menschenbildes in seiner normativen Dimension im Kontext kultureller und sozialer Wandlungsprozesse. Hierbei dient das Konzept der Norm als Fokus, der es erlaubt, diese Prozesse in unterschiedlichen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen (Naturwissenschaft/Recht/Medien und Künste/Alltagspraktiken) zu untersuchen. Hintergrund der Überlegungen ist hierbei nicht ein klar hierarchisches Gesellschaftsmodell mit einer strikten Trennung von ›Oben‹ und ›Unten‹ oder Zentrum und Peripherie, sondern vielmehr die Idee kultureller Zirkulation und der Norm als Teil sich ständig vollziehender kultureller Verschiebungsprozesse.

Humanity, Humanities, and the Planet
Since the 1980s the publications of G. C. Spivak on postcolonialism, multiculturalism and interculturality have gained worldwide influence. With theses on planetarity, G. C. Spivak moreover intervened in the international debate on globality, globalization and world society as well as on the role of the humanities, culture studies and comparative literature in the 21st century. The positions defended in her groundbreaking work are principally of interdisciplinary relevance and have also effected new perspectives in e.g. philosophy, film studies, sociology, political science, and translation studies. The guest professorship of Gayatri C. Spivak therefore thoroughly connects with focal topics of research at the Center for Intercultural Studies and extends current work at the intersection of interculturality and transculturality studies, which Professor Spivak is also considered to have masterminded.
Interdisciplinary Seminar

Participants in the interdisciplinary seminar conducted by Professor Spivak are going to discuss pluralization and competition of systems of value and systems of conceptualization in the age of global cultural and academic exchange, with special attention to social and economic substructures.
