The Mainz School of Music (Hochschule für Musik Mainz, HfMM) is the only of its kind at university level in Rhineland-Palatinate. We currently count more than 370 young students. Such integration of artistic education into university education is unique in Germany.
The combination of arts and sciences on the one hand and artistic practice, teaching, and research on the other is unique to Mainz. It is also reflected in the study programs and in projects which transcend disciplinary boundaries, such as the JGU General Studies program and the university’s various interdisciplinary working and research training groups.
We work in a cosmopolitan and vibrant environment. Mainz is rapidly becoming a media and business hub of international importance. As far as culture is concerned, the region has also plenty to offer. Besides four opera houses, the Rhine-Main region also has numerous theaters, symphony orchestras, choirs, festivals, and a vibrant cabaret scene.
