Further Training

Further training of our employees is a core task of JGU’s educational mission. We want to give our staff the opportunity for individual and professional growth in order to achieve the goals and tackle the tasks of our university together. To this end, we offer an extensive continuing education and further training program.

Family-friendly Workplace

JGU is family-friendly and we support our employees in combining family and career in their daily lives. Whether you are a parent or care for a family member, we offer the best possible working conditions. We achieve this through flexible working time arrangements, ‘working from home’ options, and daycare centers for children on our campus. For more information, please contact our Family Services Center.

Health

We offer a wide range of services for our employees in the field of (preventive) health care . These include, for example, the sports offerings of the General University Sports (AHS) or the occupational integration management after a period of sickness. At JGU, we actively promote your health.

Further Welfare Benefits

Pension provision is important to us. For this reason, we offer all employees the occupational pension scheme of the Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder (VBL). We also make a special annual payment for our employees and offer our employees capital-forming benefits. For more information, please visit the website of the State Office of Finance (Landesamt für Finanzen), the salary-paying body for all civil servants and employees of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Culture and Recreation

Our employees benefit at all times from the numerous leisure, cultural and sports activities at the university. For example, they can participate in sports programs offered by the Allgemeiner Hochschulsport (AHS, General University Sports) or attend concerts and theater performances. Go take a look at the calendar of events!

Mainz

Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is closely interlinked with the city of Mainz, the capital of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The city and the university both are at the very heart of the Rhine-Main region and in close proximity to cities like Frankfurt, Wiesbaden or Darmstadt.
