Visiting Academics, PhD Candidates and Employees

German for Ph.D. Candidates, Postdocs and Visiting Academics and for Employees of the JGU

Visiting academics and employees wishing to learn German are invited to attend one of our courses. These are free of charge and run throughout the semester only (14-weeks teaching period). You will be required to present evidence confirming your status within your department at the beginning of the course.

The A1 and A2 level courses comprise 2x3 or 2x2 hours per week. They take place twice a week in the (early) evenings.
On passing the final exam, participants will receive a certificate with their grade; those whose stay has been brief, but who have regularly attended a course, can obtain a certificate of attendance on request.

The B level courses comprise 6 semester hours per week (2x3 SWS). They take place in the mornings or in the afternoons and are directed principally at students. After the placement test participants must contact the coordinator to discover if they can participate in the language courses. It is possible to participate in these courses, provided there are places available.
If attendance has been regular and the final exam successfully taken, a graded certificate will be issued.
