Welcome to the Gutenberg Council for Young Researchers (GYR)

For the advancement of early career researchers, scholars and artists at JGU

Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) considers the support of researchers, scholars and artists early in their career to be one of its core responsibilities. This is why, in 2014, JGU established the Gutenberg Council for Young Researchers (GYR) to enhance the framework conditions for early career researchers and young artists.

The council incorporates members at different stages of their professional career: Participants cover the broad range from postgraduate studies to being well-established in an academic institution. The work of this diverse group contributes to the development and management of the University.

GYR, The Gutenberg Research College (GRC), and The Gutenberg Teaching Council (GTC), form part of a support structure that is central to the institutional strategy of JGU. This structure received praise during the 2011/12 Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state government. Consisting of highly qualified experts, the three institutions consult and advise university management on strategic matters.
