JOGUStINe “first aid”

Are you having problems with JOGUStINe?

JOGUStINe 'first aid'

If something seems strange to you, e.g. concerning course registration or your results, there is no need to panic because all problems can be solved. If you think something has gone wrong on JOGUStINe, please contact the student advising office (Studienbüro) immediately and do not wait until the end of your degree. This way, problems can be detected and solved early on. Before contacting the student advising office, please first check whether your issue is listed on this page and read the suggested solution.

If none of the solutions provided on the page are helpful, feel free to contact the student advising office at any time. If you have any further questions, e.g. regarding registration or examination rights, you will find answers to the most common questions in our FAQs.

JOGUStINe-Account

  • Login is not possible (e.g. “wrong password” or “access denied”).
If, despite entering the correct user name and password, you are not able to log in, please first make sure that your account is functioning correctly. Try to log in to https://mail.students.uni-mainz.de. If you cannot access the page, there is probably a technical problem with your university account. In this case, please contact the Center for Data Processing (ZDV). In all other cases, please contact the JOGUStINe Service.
  • I do not have any valid TAN numbers left.
If you have lost your TAN list, you should first deactivate it on JOGUStINe. Afterwards, the JOGUStINe TAN Service can issue a new TAN list. If you have used up all your TAN numbers, you can generate a new TAN list yourself. All further information regarding the deactivation, generation and reissuing of your TAN list can be found in the step-by-step instructions for the TAN system.

Course registration and withdrawal

Problem: Course registration is not possible

  • Is registration currently possible?
Course registration is only possible within the official registration period. This page provides an overview of the registration periods.
  • Does the course perhaps belong to a module which requires you to register for it first?
If you have not yet registered for the module, please do so first. Course registration should then be possible.
  • Registration for further compulsory elective courses is not possible, although you have not yet completed the module.
If you register for a compulsory elective course that is offered in several modules in parallel, the chosen course also appears in all the other modules. It is easy to lose sight of what is what. To find out which courses belong to these modules and which ones you still have to complete, please contact your student advising office.
  • Does the course belong to your minor subject?
If so, maybe you have not yet chosen your subject in JOGUStINe (see: choose your minor subject).

Problem: Withdrawal from courses is not possible.

  • Is registration currently possible?
Course withdrawal is only possible during the official registration period. This page provides an overview of the registration periods.
  • Registration for the final module is not possible.
Students cannot register for the final module by themselves. Only the student advising office is permitted to register students for the final module as well as for the Bachelor’s or Master’s theses. Please contact your student advising office.

Exam registration and withdrawal

Problem: Registration for exams is not possible.

  • Is registration currently possible?
Course registration is only possible during the official registration period. Here is an overview of the registration periods.
  • Have you fulfilled all the requirements?
If your lecturer has set your status to “inactive” due to irregular course attendance, you are not permitted to take the examination for that course. Should you have been permitted at an earlier stage, please contact your student advising office.
  • Do you have to repeat an exam?
Go to the page for the semester during which your first examination attempt took place. You should be able to register for the repeat examination here.

Problem: Withdrawal from exams is not possible.

  • Is registration currently possible?
Course registration is only possible within the official registration period. Here is an overview of the registration periods.
  • Do you have to repeat an exam?
Failed exams must be repeated within a certain period of time (usually within 6 months). You are obligated to register for repeat examinations yourself, providing that the student advising office has not already registered you. Withdrawal is not permitted and will result in a failing grade due to your absence. You can find further information on the website “Interesting facts about examinations”.

Examination results: online or printed

  • The results page is not showing the current semester.
The only semesters you can see are ones for which you have already received results. If you are not able to select a semester, this means that the results have not yet been posted.
  • Results are missing from other degrees or from a semester abroad in my Academic Records.
If you submit examination components for recognition, it may take a few weeks until they are uploaded to JOGUStINe. If the results are not recognized and the results page appears to show inaccurate information, please contact your student advising office.

How to choose your minor subject (elective registration ("Wahlbereichsanmeldung"))

  • You do not know how to choose your minor subject.
Minor subjects are chosen in JOGUStINe. Select your subject by following these steps: Registration (Anmeldung) > Electives (Wahlbereiche) > Elective Registration (Wahlbereichsanmeldung) > Subjects (Fächer). Here you will find a step-by-step guide on registration for elective modules.
