Doing research at the Jahn Library

The Jahn Library is a most valuable facility for anybody involved in research on African literatures. It can be used free of charge by students and staff of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz as well as visitors.

Researchs stays at the Jahn Library

Visitors may also use the library during prolonged research stays. While neither the Jahn Library nor the Department of Anthropology and African Studies themselves can provide financial support to visitors, international students as well as international scholars may be eligible to apply for external funding from institutions and/or foundations such as the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), the DFG (German Research Foundation), or the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, which is awarded on a competitive basis. The head of the Jahn Library or any other colleague at the Department of Anthropology and African Studies may function as "host" in this regard.
