Early Concepts of Humans and Nature: Universal, Specific, Interchanged Research Training Group

Research Training Group (RTG) 1876, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), focuses on early conceptions of humans and nature in the Near East, Northern Africa, and Europe and their origins. The participating disciplines are Egyptology, Ancient Near Eastern Philology, Near Eastern Archaeology, Classical Philology, Pre- and Protohistorical Archaeology (Pleistocene Archaeology), Classical Archaeology, Medieval German Studies, Byzantine Studies, and Medical History.

Within a structured graduate research and training program fellows study using texts, images, and archaeological data from the period ranging from 100,000 BC to the Middle Ages how the concepts of humans and nature developed, spread, and varied across cultures and epochs.
