Michel Schilperoord, PhD, is Research Associate in the team of Sociology of Technology and Innovation, Social Simulation, where he is - amongst other things - involved in the project Simulating Shanghai Innovation Policy (SiSH). Currently, Michel is working on his habilitation project at JGU

He has studied econometrics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, and obtained a PhD in complexity and foresight from Erasmus University in 2005. While working towards his PhD, he took research posts in at UFRGS in Brazil, the University of Lisbon and Trinity College Dublin, on projects that developed agent-based simulation models in application to topics in environment, innovation (the EU-COSI project) and politics. Subsequently, he worked on integrated assessment models (the EU-MATISSE project) with applications to mobility and housing at the Dutch Research Institute for Transitions (DRIFT), Erasmus University Rotterdam. He then joined the Innovation Research Unit at University College Dublin, where he worked on Irish innovation policy simulation (the IPSE project) and ex-ante evaluation of possible funding policies in Horizon 2020 (a EU tender project). Next he went on to a position at the EA European Academy GmbH in Germany, simulating the innovation capacity of public research organisations (the BMBF project Enabling Innovation by Simulation). Currently, Michel is working on his habilitation project at JGU.
