  • Organises conferences, workshops, summer/winter schools, publications
  • 300 institutional members (mostly universities) in 50 countries

  • Annual conference series, established in 1973
  • Each year, 20-30 concurrent, five-day, invitation-only workshops with 15-20 participants each

  • Department established in 1960s
  • Today: seven full professors, total staff of about 40
  • Ca. 2000 students enrolled in various programs

2.2 Rokkan Lecture & Prize Giving

  • Lecture
    • Annual Lecture to honour Political Sociologist Stein Rokkan (1921-1979)
    • This year, delivered by Senior Research Professor Dr Jürgen W. Falter (JGU Mainz)
    • Title of Professor Falter's talk: "Political Cleavages in the Weimar Republic and the Rise of National Socialism"
  • Presentation of Wildenmann, Blondel & Daalder prizes for various achievements in Political Science
  • Event hosted by Mayor Michael Ebling and Minister President Malu Dreyer
  • Venue: Wednesday, March 13, Mainz City Hall, 5.30 pm
