Requirements

In order to be able to apply for an Erasmus+ grant at EU-ServicePoint, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

1. You are enrolled at the

  • RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau,
  • University of Koblenz,
  • University of Applied Sciences Mainz
  • Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz
  • Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz

In addition, sufficient Erasmus+ contingent must be available for the entire internship. You have a total of 12 months (= 360 days) Erasmus+ contingent per study cycle (Bachelor's, Master's & Doctorate), 24 months for diploma and state examination courses, which you can use for Erasmus+ stays for studies or traineeships.

Graduates' traineeships can also be considered for funding. In these cases, students must apply for the Erasmus+ grant at the EU-ServicePoint while they are still enrolled at the university. At the beginning of the traineeship you must have completed your degree or be exmatriculated. The traineeship must be completed 12 months after your day of graduation at the latest.

Who are traineeships like this intended for?

  • Graduates who may want to bridge the gap between their bachelor and master studies
  • Graduates who are job hunting
  • Graduates who were unable to go abroad for various reasons during their studies and would now like to make use of this opportunity
  • Graduates who want to use a traineeship abroad as preparation for a later job abroad

For funding after graduation, Erasmus+ stays already completed will be counted towards the maximum funding period of 12 months. For example: if you already received an Erasmus+ grant for studies for 9 months during your bachelor’s degree, you have 3 months of Erasmus+ support left for a traineeship as a graduate.

2. Students from all fields may submit an application for an Erasmus+ grant. The traineeship must be relevant for your subject of studies. Mandatory traineeships can be supported, as well as voluntary traineeships relevant to your studies that will be recognized by the faculty or through the EUROPASS (application for this through the EU-ServicePoint).

3. Students enrolled at German higher education institutions can utilize Erasmus+ mobility grants if they study in a full-time degree program which leads to an accredited degree. You can get financial support for your traineeship by the EU-ServicePoint if you are getting your degree from the participating universities of the consortia.

4. The traineeship must be a full-time traineeship.

5. The internship can take various forms:

  • a physical presence of at least 60 days (long term) - possible with an optional virtual component (collaborative online learning, exchange and teamwork in the framework of joint projects and/or online courses), which is not compulsory and not limited in time. Plese mind: 60 calender days does not necessarily mean 60 Erasmus+ days since Erasmus+ calculates all months with 30 days (which means the 31st of a months is nout included in the calculation). If you are unsure whether you fulfill the 60 days requirements, just get in touch with us so we can check this.
  • as blended mobility, involving a physical presence of 5-30 days (short term) on site in a participating country, with a virtual component (collaborative online learning, exchange and teamwork in the context of joint projects and/or online courses), which is compulsory but not time-bound, and which corresponds to a workload of 3 ECTS.
  • for doctoral students, including a physical presence of 5-30 days (short term) on site in a participating country, even without a compulsory virtual component.

6. The traineeship must take place in one of the participating countries of the Erasmus+ program. The students must live in the respective country during the whole duration of the traineeship abroad.

7. Taking out health, accident, and liability insurances for the duration of the traineeship is mandatory. More information on this: Before Departure

8. Not qualified for Erasmus+ grants are traineeships at EU institutions and other EU organizations as well as institutions and organization that manage programs of the EU or are directly funded by the EU in order to avoid conflicts of interests and double funding through the EU (a detailed list of these institutions and organizations can be found here.)
