JGU's Center for Continuing Academic Education cooperated with institutions from Norway, Finland, Luxembourg, France, Belgium, and Germany in a Grundtvig Learning Partnership project from August 1, 2009 to July 31, 2011. During this period, the partners and other multipliers from the various countries met at conferences and workshops to discuss the subject of prison education. Considered and compared during these meetings were the various different concepts employed in Europe with regard to educational programs in prisons and the responsibilities of the various ministries through to post-release support institutions for delinquents.
Funds were provided by the European Commission to cover the costs of travel to the events.
