Center for Lifelong Learning

With almost 30,000 students from about 130 different nations, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is among the fifteen largest and most prestigious universities in Germany. As the concept of lifelong learning has become an important aspect in today’s globalized world, the Center for Lifelong Learning of Johannes Gutenberg University is proud to respond to this ever-increasing need by organizing more than 360 seminars and conferences on a variety of different topics annually. Through working together with 170 professional teachers, many of them professors and scientists, the Center ensures that people from all walks of life have access to high quality education.

By completing the respective classes, participants can acquire academic degrees in the form of a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS). It is also possible to visit classes as a guest student or as part of a program specifically tailored for senior citizens (“Studieren 50 Plus”). The Center places its focus on vocational education and training, continuing professional development and cross-skilling. It is also involved in many national and international projects and the Summer@Uni-Mainz, the Johannes Gutenberg University’s international summer school.
