VERLAGSSTRATEGIEN: STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT IN PUBLISHING

 

In this *** English-language *** seminar, we will a) learn about analytical dimensions of strategic relevance for (media / book) businesses as well as corresponding strategic options (Barney/Hesterley, Küng), b) work through a number of interesting recent articles on strategic aspects of the book / media industry (from journals like Logos, Publishing Research Quarterly, etc.) and c) apply the concepts acquired to recent phenomena to be identified with the help of e.g. industry magazines like the Börsenblatt. As a result, students will be able to drill down in the face of selected contemporary industry observations on their own – by writing a (small) analysis (as one option for the seminar paper) …
