9€-ticket

We will not respond to outstanding requests for €9-ticket refunds after 30 June 2023.

Information about the 9€-ticket, which was valid from 01.06.2022 to 31.08.2022, can be found here. There you will also find our FAQ, where we explain what you can do if you have not yet received a refund due to the 9€-ticket. (The informations provided here apply only to students of JGU on the Mainz campus, not to students at the Germersheim location.)

Pilot Project Digital Semester Ticket

Starting with the winter semester 2021/22, the digital semester ticket will be introduced for M.Ed. students on a trial basis. For this purpose, the Student Services sent out a first information mail to all M.Ed. students at the beginning of August.

Yet, of course, you still have questions like:

  • How does the ticket control work if I do not have data reception at the moment?
  • What if my battery dies during the check?
  • How can I apply for a paper ticket?

As enrolled students of JGU Mainz you will receive a semester ticket. The ticket in the form of your current student identity card in combination with an official photo identity card or a foreign passport is your ticket for public transport.

IMPORTANT: The ticket must not be laminated!

Refund and subsidy

The application period for the winter semester 2023/24 for most refund applications is
01 September 2023 until 08 November 2023.
The application website will be activated on the first day of the application period.

This is a so-called cut-off deadline. This means that once the deadline has passed, you will no longer be able to apply for a refund for the semester in question. This applies even if you could actually get a refund. This means that the application must be received in time and that a postponement or extension of the deadline is not possible.

Under certain circumstances you can get a refund of your semester ticket. In the course of this, however, you also lose the rights that go with it. This means, for example, that you have to buy tickets if you want to use public transport.You can find all info here:

Under certain conditions you can receive a subsidy for the semester ticket. The subsidy is a financial support to help students who have financial difficulties to pay the semester ticket. Therefore, the semester ticket is not invalidated in this case.You can find all info here:
