The degree program Bachelor of Science Physics lasts six semesters (standard period of study) and is divided into two parts: the introductory study period (Grundstudium) and the advanced study period (Hauptstudium).
During the first two semesters (introductory study period), students focus on the basics of experimental and theoretical physics as well as mathematics. The first two semesters are nearly identical to the degree program “Bachelor of Education Physics”. This makes it easier for students to transition between the programs. In the advanced study period (3rd to 6th semester), students will specialize in the main areas of physics. From the 4th semester onwards, they can attend lectures according to their selected areas of focus. As of the 3rd semester, students will also be able to enroll in physics laboratory courses. Here they can practice how to conduct laboratory experiments and how to use measuring instruments. In addition, students also register for interdisciplinary compulsory elective courses (lectures and lab courses). In the 5th semester, a seminar will prepare students for their Bachelor’s thesis, which (like the final oral examination) is scheduled for the 6th semester.

Advanced study period
Third to sixth semester
- Specialization in experimental and theoretical physics (lectures and tutorials)
- Conducting experiments in laboratories and an introduction to using measuring instruments (lab course)
- Interdisciplinary compulsory elective courses (lectures and lab courses)
- Independent scientific work and presentation techniques training (seminar)
- Bachelor seminar, Bachelor's thesis and final oral examination
